  • Native Charleston Tours is a collaboration of the best guides in the area. While working years in the hospitality industry Captain Bryan learned that ditching the script was paramount to creating an authentic experience and started a company that uses experts in their respective fields.

  • The distinction for all guides at Native Charleston Tours is that we each designed from the ground up the respective experiences using our area of expertise. Amongst many other credentials, Adam was a history major, Gia grew up downtown Charleston, and Captain Bryan is a Historic Commissioner, therefore no script was memorized. We also maintain the official Tour Guide License which is only acquired by passing a lengthy exam. The knowledge base we provide is something only locals and/or actual historians can cover through years of experience. You as our guest are paying for expertise and you deserve the best of the best!

  • The tour industry has become more consolidated than ever before. Independent guides cannot compete against out of state companies that have tons of guides repeating scripted information but lack substance or detail. How do we fight this? By working together and proving that expertise, a vast knowledge base, and an authentic experience are better than a generic scripted tour. We believe we can change the industry and put the power back in the hands of independent guides! Why are we called Native Charleston Tours? Because only operate locally and your support helps local independent guides!     Bryan Blalock

    Owner/Operator

    Capt. Bryan Blalock is a 7th generation Charlestonian of Huguenot heritage, a people that would have been among the first immigrants to this historic city. His mastery of the local waterways, knowledge of the history of Charleston, and love to share this information has allowed for a great opportunity for tourists and locals alike to enjoy Charleston on a variety of tour experiences with a licensed guide.

    Adam Moore

    Partner Guide/ Tour Designer

    Adam Moore was a History Major and has a love and appreciation for history here in the Holy City. Since moving to Charleston many years ago he has started a family and enjoys all that Charleston has to offer. He excels at exploring the time frame of Prohibition era and drinking history of the colonial era as well and is a partner guide on the History and Hops Experience.

    Gia Nocturne

    Partner Guide/ Tour Designer

    Gia was born and raised in beautiful downtown Charleston not far down the street from where Capt Bryan’s families house was on Broad. Gia has an appreciation of this historic and HERstoric area coupled with fun filled insider knowledge. Gia has been a women’s history guide, general history guide, architecture guide, and ghost tour guide over the years. She is also a City Certified Guide and member of the Charleston Tour Association.
